Set Fleet Permissions
Goal: Override a member's role on a specific fleet, instead of the default fleet role from their organization.
Before you begin
- You need the
roles.assignpermission on the organization (typically Owner or Admin). - The fleet must be accessible to the organization you're managing.
- Without an override, each member falls back to their organization's default fleet role. An override can't exceed the organization's role cap on the fleet.
Steps
- In the top navigation, click Fleet Permissions.
- Under Organization, select the organization whose members you want to manage.
- Under Fleet, select the fleet. Each fleet shows the organization's role cap in the list.
- In the Members table, find the person you want to change. The table shows their Org role, Org default fleet role, and their current Effective on this fleet role.
- In the Override column, choose a fleet role for that member.
- Click Save on that row.
!!! note If the organization's cap on the fleet is Viewer, overrides have no effect — every member is read-only. Raise the cap in Edit Fleet → Organizations with Access first. Overrides set above the cap are silently capped at runtime.
