Maps and Map Data

PathLab gives you several ways to get data onto the map and measure it: import existing GeoJSON, survey distances and areas, and review coverage statistics.

Import (Load)

The Load Feature item in the map overlay bar's Create menu imports a GeoJSON file as map features.

Control What it does
Upload File / Paste JSON Choose a .geojson or .json file, or paste GeoJSON content directly.
Area Type The role assigned to the imported features (for example Allowed Area, Path / Preferred Area, Keepout, Soft Exclusion, Work Area, Target, Queue, Control Zone, Trigger Zone).
Feature Name (optional) A name for the imported layer. Leave blank to derive one from the file.

Imported features land as layers in the Features and Layers panel, where you can save and deploy them. See Import map data.

Survey

The Survey Feature item in the map overlay bar's Create menu opens the survey tool for measuring on the map and placing features precisely:

  • Measure distances along linestrings and areas of polygons.
  • Read Heading and Elevation for placed geometry.
  • Add Points and Linestrings by clicking the map or entering exact Latitude / Longitude coordinates.
  • Assign a role to what you place (for example Allowed Area, Path / Preferred Area, Keepout, Soft Exclusion, Work Area, Target, Queue, Control Zone, Trigger Zone).

Statistics

The Statistics view summarizes coverage output, including:

  • Total Distance
  • Point Count
  • Row Count
